Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage (PSMO) College,
Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage (PSMO) College, Tirurangadi, was established in 1968 under the management of the Tirurangadi Muslim Orphanage Committee. The institution was founded with the vision of providing quality higher education to socially and educationally backward communities, especially orphaned and marginalized students in the Malabar region. Initially affiliated with the University of Kerala, the college later came under the University of Calicut following the university reorganization in the same year.
The college was upgraded as a first-grade college in 1972 and became a postgraduate institution in 1980. Over the years, PSMO College has grown into one of the leading higher educational institutions in Malappuram district, offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes across arts, science, commerce, and humanities disciplines.
PSMO College was inspired by the humanitarian vision of M.K. Haji, a social reformer and educational pioneer who transformed his own residence into an orphanage in 1943, which later evolved into the Tirurangadi Muslim Orphanage. His efforts played a major role in the educational and cultural upliftment of the Malabar region.
Today, the college is recognized for its academic excellence, multicultural campus environment, research activities, and social commitment. It has received NAAC A+ accreditation and autonomous status, reflecting its reputation as one of the premier colleges under the University of Calicut.
